The Ethiopian Ministry of Education (MoE) has published a new English textbook for Grade 10 students. The textbook is titled ENGLISH FOR ETHIOPIA EDUCATION and was written by a team of Ethiopian and international experts.

The textbook is designed to help students develop their English language skills in all four areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The book covers a wide range of topics, including population growth, travel behaviors, punctuality, tourist attractions, honey processing, migration, branding Ethiopia and national identity, the healing power of plants, multilingualism, and digital vs satellite television.
Each unit in the textbook begins with a listening activity, followed by a speaking activity, a reading activity, a grammar activity, and a writing activity. The activities are designed to be engaging and relevant to students’ lives.

Unit 1: Population Growth
This unit explores the challenges and opportunities posed by population growth. Students will learn about the causes and effects of population growth, as well as different strategies for managing population growth.
Unit 2: Travel Behaviors
This unit explores the different travel behaviors of people around the world. Students will learn about the different factors that influence people’s travel choices, as well as the environmental and social impacts of travel.
Unit 3: Punctuality
This unit explores the importance of punctuality in different cultures. Students will learn about the different ways that punctuality is perceived and valued in different societies.
Unit 4: Tourist Attractions
This unit explores the different types of tourist attractions and the different factors that make a place a popular tourist destination. Students will learn about the importance of tourism for economic development and cultural exchange.
Unit 5: Honey Processing
This unit explores the process of honey production and the different types of honey available. Students will learn about the importance of honey for human health and the environment.
Unit 6: Migration
This unit explores the different types of migration and the reasons why people migrate. Students will learn about the challenges and opportunities faced by migrants, as well as the impact of migration on both sending and receiving countries.
Unit 7: Branding Ethiopia and National Identity
This unit explores the importance of branding for countries and the different ways that countries can brand themselves. Students will learn about Ethiopia’s brand identity and the different ways that Ethiopia can promote itself to the world.
Unit 8: The Healing Power of Plants
This unit explores the traditional use of plants for medicinal purposes. Students will learn about the different types of medicinal plants and the different ways that plants can be used to treat diseases.
Unit 9: Multilingualism
This unit explores the benefits of being multilingual and the challenges faced by multilingual learners. Students will learn about the different types of multilingualism and the different ways that multilingualism can be supported.
Unit 10: Digital vs Satellite Television
This unit explores the different types of television available and the different factors that influence people’s choice of television service. Students will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of digital vs satellite television.
